Irish News VIP tour of Croke Park.
Following on from the wonderful news that Saint Ronan's had won the Irish News tour of Croke Park, the children from P4 and P5 felt honoured and very lucky when their class were drawn out of the cup to go to GAA head quarters in Dublin. An early start and a very excited group of children travelled to Dublin, the excitement could only be matched by a day in September!
We were indeed treated like VIP's from the moment we arrived by both representatives of The Irish News and staff at Croke Park. What followed will live long in the memories of these children: a behind the scenes look at Croke Park, looking at where the players' bus comes in, the players' changing room and warm up area. A question and answer session with Monaghan player Conor Mc Manus who fielded many tricky questions from these young children and was a real inspiration.
Indeed the dreams that so many young players have of running out onto the pitch became an actual reality when they all ran up the tunnel accompanied by the cheers of a roaring crowd! Magical!
We had a side line tour around the park, up to the Press Area, opportunities for more photos. After the tour an eager Tyrone side worked on their ball skills and then rounded off the day with a beautiful lunch in The Croke Park hotel.
What a perfect way to end of the year, heart felt thanks to The Irish News for this wonderful opportunity, staff at Croke Park for making us feel so welcome, special mention to our guide Breen, Conor Mc Manus also Joe from The Irish News, for making this a day to remember. Big thank you to all our parents and pupils who sent in tokens from The Irish News and made it all possible. We thank you all so much.
