Cumann na mBunscol activities
We have had a very busy week here in St. Ronan's attending some indoor events hosted by Cumann na mBunscol.
On Monday, it was the turn of the boys who attended the indoor competition.
There was great football on display from all 7 seven schools in attendance. Our boys proved formidable opponents and ended up reaching the final before being beaten by winners, St. Lawrence's Fintona. The boys should be very proud of themselves. There was great performances from every child who wore the jersey that day.
Tuesday, saw the girls event. Once again the girls played with great determination and faced very difficult opposition. Unfortunately the ladies did not reach the final, but they played very well in each game they had.
Friday, we turned our attention to the handball alley and we had 3 children represent the school in this competition. A huge well done to Cormac, who battled very hard in the U11 singles competition. He was unlucky in his game against a very difficult opponent.
Cahir and James entered the alley for the U.13 doubles and they were fantastic, reaching the final. They were beaten by a very strong partnership from St. Teresa's PS Loughmacrory.
These experiences are great for the pupils and are super for building resilience in our children. A huge congratulations to all the winners from these competitions. A huge thank you as well to the people who organise all the fixtures and referee.
From a school perspective, we want to thank Michelle Warren who has been brilliant with the after-school handball with the boys and it is great to see the enthusiasm for all sports in our school.
